How to delete your wafian account

If you wish to delete your Wafian account and associated data, please follow one of these methods:

Option 1: Request via Email

  1. Send an email to: support@wafian.io
  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Include in your email:
    • Your registered email address
    • Your Wafian username (if different)
    • Confirmation that you want to permanently delete your account
  4. We will process your request within 7 business days and send you a confirmation email

Option 2: In-App Deletion

  • Settings → Account → Delete Account

What Data is Deleted

When you delete your Wafian account, the following data is permanently removed:

Deleted Within 24-48 Hours:

  • Your profile information (name, username, bio, profile picture)
  • Your email address and contact information
  • Your preferences and settings
  • Your authentication credentials (password, login tokens)
  • Your device tokens and notification settings

Deleted Within 30 Days:

  • Your playlists and favorites
  • Your listening history and activity data
  • Your social connections (followers, following)
  • Your user-generated content (posts, comments, reviews)
  • Your messages and conversations
  • Your uploaded content (if applicable)

Deleted Within 90 Days:

  • Your IP addresses and device identifiers
  • Your usage analytics and telemetry data
  • Your crash reports and error logs

What Data is Retained

Some data must be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons:

Retained for Legal/Tax Compliance (Up to 7-10 Years):

  • Transaction records (invoices, payment receipts, subscription records)
    • Required by tax law and accounting regulations
    • Personal identifiers are anonymized after 90 days

Retained for Security (If Account Had Violations):

  • Abuse/fraud prevention records
    • To prevent re-registration by banned users
    • Only includes anonymized identifiers and violation details
    • No personal content is retained

Retained Permanently (Fully Anonymized):

  • Aggregated analytics (usage statistics, performance metrics)
    • Cannot be linked back to you
    • Used for product improvement
    • Not considered "personal data" under GDPR

Data Deletion Timeline

Day 0: You request account deletion

Day 1-2: Profile, email, and credentials deleted
→ Account marked as "deletion pending"

Day 30: All user content permanently deleted
→ Account cannot be recovered
→ Backups purged from all systems

Day 90: Security logs and analytics purged
→ Only legal/tax records remain (anonymized)

Grace Period: Can I Cancel My Deletion Request?

Yes, within 30 days.

If you change your mind, contact us at support@wafian.io within 30 days of your deletion request. We can
restore your account if we haven't completed the deletion process yet.

After 30 days, your account is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Third-Party Service Connections

If you've connected Wafian to third-party services (Spotify, Apple Music, Google, Facebook), you may need to
revoke access separately:

Deleting your Wafian account does not automatically revoke these third-party connections.

Your Data Rights (GDPR)

As a Wafian user, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to Erasure: Delete your account and data (this page)
  • Right to Restriction: Limit how we process your data
  • Right to Portability: Export your data in machine-readable format
  • Right to Object: Opt out of certain data processing (e.g., marketing emails)
